Blepharoplasty

For whom?
The blepharoplasty procedure is recommended for people who have excess skin on the upper or lower eyelids. It is most often opted for by patients noticing drooping eyelids, tired looking eyes or deterioration of the aesthetics of the eye area. The procedure may also be indicated when excess skin begins to restrict the field of vision or causes the eyelids to feel heavy. Blepharoplasty is suitable for both men and women who want to improve the appearance of this area of the face and regain a fresher, younger look.
Course of treatment
The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and takes about 1-1.5 hours, depending on the extent of the correction. The surgeon makes small incisions in the natural folds of the eyelid skin, so there is little visible scarring after healing. Excess skin and, if necessary, a small amount of fatty tissue is then removed. Once the eyelid reshaping is completed, the wound is closed with thin, aesthetic sutures. The patient can usually return home the same day.
